Laser System Upgrade Information

Laser System Software Upgrade Information

Applies to Videojet Laser Models VJ3120, VJ3320.

This website provides important information regarding Videojet’s laser system software upgrade program.

While your laser is likely functioning properly, this upgrade will add self-tests to be performed on the electronic circuits. The new tests detect key components on the ACC 3 PCB and add a further layer of safety in the event that a component on the ACC 3 board fails. If the component happens to fail, the software will disable the laser beam in the marking period.

Without this upgrade, there is the potential that if the component fails the laser beam source could remain on. If you have any questions, please contact your Videojet service team.

Permanent Software Upgrade

This permanent software upgrade will disable the laser beam in the marking period If the component happens to fail. The new software also includes an enhancement to the existing emission warning system. If the laser beam is disabled because of an opened interlock, the emission warning lamp now remains on to indicate that the power supply is still enabled. We would like to visit your facility to install the software upgrade. If you have not been contacted by Videojet, please call 877-722-8762 to schedule an appointment for the upgrade. The upgrade will be installed free of charge.

If you have any questions, please contact Videojet at 877-722-8762.

We apologize for any disruption this may cause.

Laser Internal System Clock Software Upgrade Information

Applies to Videojet Laser Models DN50A, LN100A, VJ3120, VJ3320, VJ3430, VJ7210, VJ7310

This website provides important information regarding Videojet’s laser internal system clock software upgrade program.

While your laser is likely functioning properly, this upgrade prevents future potential issues with the internal system clock on the laser. The internal system clock is used for printing codes that contain the date/time or are based on the current date/time (such as date/time codes, inserts, etc.).

Failure to implement the software upgrade or failure to take the additional steps recommended below until the upgrade can be performed could result in an internal system clock error occurring on or after January 01, 2017. If you have any questions, please contact your Videojet service team.

Permanent Software Upgrade

This permanent software upgrade will help ensure that the internal system clock issue will not occur in the future. We would like to visit your facility to install the software upgrade. If you have not been contacted by Videojet, please call 65 6718 0261 to schedule an appointment for the upgrade. The upgrade will be installed free of charge.

Preventative Measures until the Software Upgrade is Performed

As long as the laser is left on and constantly powered, this internal clock error will not occur. It is only potentially triggered on shut down and restart of the laser. If you leave your laser on, you should not experience any internal clock issues.

If on start up you see a Laser Error (flashing Orange/Yellow light) with the following error codes (W10506, E19309), please follow the step-by-step instructions available here (Power Cycle Procedure and Date/Time adjustment on Videojet Lasers) to ensure that your date and time are set correctly. Approximately one month after performing the original corrective procedures, if you shut down and restart the laser, the laser may restart with a date/time code that is off by approximately three days. The above instructions will assist you in the event that this issue occurs.

These steps are not a replacement for the permanent software upgrade. Please contact Videojet to schedule the laser upgrade.

We also advise that you should continue to check the date/time code on the laser upon future shut down and start up as part of any normal QC process.

If you have any questions please contact Videojet at 65 6718 0261.

We apologize for any disruption this may cause.
